Kindergarten
Kindergarten is a wonderful way for your child to discover what school is like and to have fun while learning new things. In this exciting new community, children’s natural curiosity and eagerness to learn are structured through organized activities and purposeful play. Your child will interact, imagine, experiment and explore to add to their knowledge, learn new skills and practice what they’ve learned.

Your Virtual Educator

VAN WYNGAARD Academy is led by Stefanie van Wyngaard. After completing her Bachelor of Education through the University of Alberta’s partnership program – Teacher Education North (T. E. N.) – at the Grande Prairie Regional College in 2010; she was quickly hired into the Grande Prairie Public School Division. Subsequently, she was the superintendent’s choice for receiving the Edwin Parr: Excellence in First Year Teaching Award and also received an Exemplary Staff Award within the first few years of her career.
She completed an accelerated Masters of Education with a focus in Teacher Leadership by 2016 and dedicated time to classroom action research on the topic of Project-based learning.
She transformed her classroom and curriculum to reflect the 21st century values of collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.
Students were engaged, built independence and challenged their personal learning goals with hands-on projects which spanned Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Health, Art and even Music simultaneously! This also allowed her to transform her classroom into a more open, flexible and active learning environment where alternative “seating” (or kneeling, or standing or lounging) options are given to students to meet their individual learning needs and promote collaboration.
Stefanie has enjoyed sharing her passion for teaching through a multitude of public speaking events to administrators, teachers, student teachers and parents alike! She has continued to develop professionally by, most recently, obtaining her Montessori Lower and Upper Elementary Diplomas through the North American Montessori Center (NAMC).
She also keeps herself busy spending time with her husband & 1 year old daughter Henley; as well as exploring her personal hobbies of the ukulele and the French language.
